St. George Showdown
Nobles (9.5) def. Lords (6.5)
The 2025 Gentleman's Cup
Day 1 April 3, 2025 Coral Canyon
Two-Man Scramble - 1 point per match
The 2025 G-Cup kicked off at Coral Canyon under blue Utah skies. Paul Fung arrived nursing a back injury from hitting 200 balls in preparation, while Tristan Davis rolled in from a late night in Vegas - up $1,100 at the blackjack table but running on fumes.
The headline moment came on the par-5 16th hole in the Fee/Fung vs. Diaz-Arauzo/Lea match. All four players reached the green, setting up a dramatic eagle hunt. Paul Fung stepped up and drained a 35-foot double-breaking putt for eagle - a shot that soul-crushed the opposition and effectively sealed a 2&1 Lords victory. Connor followed up with a 99-yard wedge to four feet on 17 to close it out.
Meanwhile, rookie Logan Nagorski made his mark off the course too, sinking 10 consecutive basketball shots at the house and prompting Derr to set up a bet that would pay off spectacularly the next day.
Day 2 April 4, 2025 Sand Hollow
Chapman Best Ball - 1 point per match
Sand Hollow provided a stunning desert backdrop for Day 2, though a small wrinkle emerged - Connor had explained the Chapman format incorrectly, and most teams played it wrong. Nobody seemed to mind.
Moyer was the star of the day, unleashing 330-yard drives straight down the center and powering his team with Paul to a dominant 5&4 victory. But the Nobles clawed back elsewhere, taking two matches to level the overall score at 4-4 heading into the decisive final day.
The day's most legendary moment came off the course. Moyer bet Logan $100 he couldn't throw a football into a basketball hoop from 55 yards away. Logan nonchalantly launched it - and nailed it. The group erupted. The day ended with a double rainbow over the desert, pool basketball, and time in the jacuzzi.
Day 3 April 5, 2025 Copper Rock
Singles - 1 point per match
Copper Rock's desert landscape proved to be the stage for a Nobles takeover. Tied 4-4 entering singles, the Nobles needed a strong showing - and they delivered, winning 5.5 of the 8 available points to claim the Cup 9.5-6.5.
The Fung brothers' singles match was the emotional centerpiece. Mark and Paul battled intensely through 14 holes before things quieted down. On 18, Paul chunked a 6-iron into the water, allowing Mark to salvage a tie in what was the most personal match of the day.
Santi Diaz-Arauzo was the Nobles' hero, shooting an unflappable 76 and celebrating every birdie like a wide receiver scoring a touchdown. He dispatched Logan 4&2 in convincing fashion. Meanwhile, Derr hit what Joe Lea called "the best iron shot I've ever seen anybody hit" - a 5-iron on the 12th hole.
The frustrations of the desert course got to a few Lords. Both Paul and Logan performed full tomahawk club throws, while Tristan was up 2 on Dan Wright early before a collapse on the back nine. A bachelorette party watching from the course inspired Tristan and Moyer to hit their best drives of the day.
Richard Hewitt capped his victory by singing "My Own Worst Enemy" with Zach in the back of the cart on the ride in - a fitting soundtrack to a Cup that slipped away from the Lords on the final day.
